Successful on-site test of the first pressurized air cable connection in Switzerland

Reliability under real conditions: Hivoduct successfully commissions Switzerland's first 145 kV pressurised air cable connection.

Hivoduct has successfully tested and commissioned the first 145 kV, 1250 A pressurized air cable connection in Switzerland. This important milestone underlines the high quality and reliability of our products in real-world conditions.

The on-site testing included tests at every stage, strictly in accordance with the IEC 62271-204 standard: AC voltage test with 235 kV for 1 minute and 174 kV for 30 minutes. The accompanying partial discharge measurement using integrated UHF sensors confirmed the clean installation and revealed no phase-correlated partial discharge. A CIGRE Sensitivity Check Step 2 was carried out in advance, which confirmed the reception sensitivity of the sensors.

Particularly impressive: for this connection with seven 90-degree angle pieces over a length of approx. 23 m, the sensitivity of just 3 UHF sensors was sufficient to enable complete and standard-compliant monitoring.

A big thank you to the FKH test experts for the speedy test, which was successfully completed after only 3 working days.

The connection has now been in successful operation for 2 months and continues to be monitored continuously.

We are delighted with this success and look forward with optimism to further projects in Switzerland and beyond!
